We travelers all have that one souvenir that we look back at and go …Did I really buy this?
For me, it’s pencils.
Two pencils in particular.
It’s not that pencils are a bad purchase. They’re very useful. They can be handed off to other friends as a fun gift. They can remind you of where they were purchased. All good things to have in a travel souvenir.
But these pencils in particular I can never use and I can never give away.
Why?
They were $6. Six dollars for two pencils.
They are very pretty pencils. Wrapped in sheet music and purchased from a gift shop near the Sydney Opera House.
But because I paid a ridiculous exorbitant amount for pencils, I just can’t stand to ever use them up and have to throw them away.

I’m a sucker for key chains. I don’t travel as much, currently (hopefully that changes once the kids are older), but any destination we go to, I come home with a key chain. It drives my husband so crazy to have a bunch of metal hanging around on the key holders, but I enjoy them!
Haha! My husband hates keychains too! But they are such a practical and cheap souvenir to buy!
